Neighborhood Network News: 10/9/18

Our top story: five men killed in separate shootings in a violent weekend in Boston. The shootings took place in Mattapan, Roxbury, and Dorchester--including one late Saturday night, an apparent robbery, at a gas station near Codman Square.

In the Back Bay, the gleam of rising hopes fills the air to honor a local champion of poor and homeless women. Saturday on Dartmouth Street, the unveiling took place for a new memorial to Kip Tiernan.

And there's mixed reaction to a proposed landmark designation for the Citgo sign in Kenmore Square. A hearing on the designation was scheduled for today by the the Boston Landmarks Commission.
