Neighborhood Network News: 4/10/18

Our top story: Mayor Walsh adds more funding to rebuild the Long Island Bridge. His new budget calls for another fifty million dollars, with forty-two million committed already. According to the Boston Globe, the bridge would be rebuilt over the next three years.

Governor Baker's increasing aid to school districts receiving students evacuated from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Last fall, after severe hurricanes, the students were enrolled in twelve districts around the state, including Boston. According to the Globe, the districts will receive an additional fifteen million dollars.

This morning at Boston University, it was graduation day for the newest class of the Boston Police Academy. The ninety-seven graduates will soon begin their assignments with the Boston Police Department. Among those on hand for the ceremony were Mayor Walsh and Police commissioner William Evans.
