Neighborhood Network News: 9/6/18

Our top story: Boston students heading back to school. Today was the beginning of a new year for most students in grades one through twelve, among them students here at the English High School in Jamaica Plain.

Officials also expressed confidence about tackling recent problems with school buses. When classes began for some students last week, many buses were missing or running late. And, despite the lack of a new contract with driver, officials said this morning that bus performance was getting better.

As a result of Ayanna Pressley's victory on Tuesday, Boston will soon have a new city councilor. Under city law, that would be the citywide candidate who came in fifth place last year--Althea Garrison.
